Lessons in Life

Filed under: Uncategorized, Weblogs — gracejoyhienen at 2:19 am on Monday, March 23, 2009

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

8. It’s okay to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

12. It’s okay to let your children see you cry.

13. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.

16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.

19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over-prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.

35. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.

36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

41. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

42. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

45. The best is yet to come.

46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

48. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

49. Yield.

50. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

Feel it now…see it now….

How do we dry the tears that have already fallen

Turn back the pages to this endless abandon?

Thinking that trust meant believing in truth I was blown away by it’s unmarked youth

Naive and innocent perceptions left no judgement. Just simply understood that Webster had written it.

Wow, how clearly I knew I was the victim.,

Without remorse without any question.

My pride took it’s place-I had been fooled,

Myself to take blame

into a fantasy of swollen heads spinning.

Intricately weaving the plot till it’s white, with thinner threads clear in between strong bindings.

How do we re-heal the scars that again started bleeding

We’ve all made mistakes that burned both ends

Made the choice and chose to love and the way we could

Never knowing it’s not the way that we should.

We take our freedom for granted,

Never cho osing to listen, only demand it!

The nerve to feel neglected and worthless

Suicidal thoughts while others suffer abandoned.

I was worth the fight over,

my faith for my children’s children is worth the fight over,

your life and legacy is worth the fight over.

Millions of lives lost so we can take cover,

Sheltered from the reality that lives outside our borders

Yes, in a blink of an eye, it can all be taken away,

Everything we believed and had hope in just, be taken away.

Security and confidence stripped and left naked, ‘Everything just…taken away.

It’s time for us to choose and take control of our actions, mind body and soul.

Life is still too short to live prideful

And,

Life is too long to live in selfish denial.

Views of a Filipino

This is my way of sharing my views on respect in hopes that I can reach out and change people who don’t have it, that do but don’t share it, and to the people that just don’t think about it. Life is too short to live with anger and hate, it causes unnecessary effort. But life is also long enough to where we can have either a positive or negative impact that affects not only our lives but other people’s lives as well. The good and bad thing about that is if it’s something positive it can be passed on even longer than our own lives, but if it’s negative it can have the opposite effect. Everything starts from the day we are born; the way that we are raised, treated, the people we meet, and the experiences we face all have an influence on who we are and who we become….. We might not have the power to change the past, but we damn well have the power to change today and the future. Right now we can make changes that better our lives, our families lives, our children or future children’s lives, our co-workers lives, and even strangers lives. But first we need to make changes for ourselves; it all starts with us. Everyone has their own vision of what a successful life is to them and that’s alright because were all different and we have the right to our own opinion. The most important thing to understand is we have the right to do what we gotta do to make ourselves happy but we don’t have the right to stand in the way of someone else’s path to happiness; that’s where respect comes in. Respect is a powerful word. Imagine if everyone had respect……. We could all live in the same world together without hurting one another. We don’t all have to get along but if we have respect we can accept each others differences….. Kids would not have to worry about being bullied or made fun of at school, instead they can just focus on learning, growing, and building a better future for themselves…… If we had respect for ourselves we wouldn’t sell our bodies for money or fill it with drugs that will lead us to no where…… If we had respect for others we wouldn’t sell other peoples’ bodies for money or sell drugs to people that will eventually ruin their life…… If we had respect for women we wouldn’t beat them or rape them…… If we had respect for another persons’ life murder would not exist and families wouldn’t have to go through the pain of losing a loved one for a reason they can’t understand…… If husbands and wives respected each other they would not cheat and break the vows they swore on…… If everyone had respect the world would be a better place, but right now thats not the case. I do understand that bad people go through things in life that lead them to become who they are…. but I also believe that people should get what they deserve ans own up to their mistakes before being forgiven. Everyones eyes…..I want to spread this page across myspace and get people to at least think about what Ive written on this page. Im not the first person to think this, say it, or write it…. I just dont think that theres enough people in the world that live it. Who I am doesnt matter… but what i wrote does. We act different ways based on different situations… Im not saying that we should respect a person that is disrespectful… but what if they could read this before they are…. I know that these words alone might not be strong enough to change a person but i know that strength is in numbers…
